Exploring Breeden Creek
The Start of Breeden Creek
Every stream has a beginning, and Breeden Creek starts high up on a place called Keyger Mountain. This starting point, known as the "headwaters," is about 1,300 feet above sea level. Keyger Mountain itself is even taller, reaching over 1,660 feet! From its starting point, Breeden Creek begins its journey, flowing generally towards the south.
Breeden Creek's Journey Ends
After winding its way through the landscape, Breeden Creek meets another stream called Little Beaver Creek. This meeting point is called a "confluence." The confluence is about 1,099 feet above sea level. It's located near a small community named Pansy, just a short distance from Missouri Route NN.
The Name Behind the Creek
Breeden Creek, along with an old school that used to be nearby, is named after a local family who lived in the area. This is a common way that natural features and places get their names, honoring the people who were important to the community's history.
