Brendan's Cricket Journey
Starting in 2016–17
At the start of this cricket season, Brendan got a special 'rookie' contract with the Queensland Bulls team. This was a big deal because he was only the second Indigenous Australian player to get a contract with them.
Even though he didn't play for the Bulls that season, he made his List A debut for the Cricket Australia XI team. This was in the 2016–17 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup. In his very first game against Queensland, he took his first List A wicket. He ended up taking six wickets in four matches during the tournament. This was the second-highest number of wickets for his team.
Playing in 2017–18
In the 2017–18 season, Brendan started playing for Queensland in the 2017–18 JLT One-Day Cup. He took five wickets for the team in four matches.
After that, he made his first-class debut in the 2017–18 Sheffield Shield season. In his first time bowling in a first-class game, he did really well. He took 4 wickets for only 33 runs while the Victoria team was bowled out for 148 runs. In February 2018, he took his first "five-wicket haul" in first-class cricket. This means he took five or more wickets in one innings.
Moving to South Australia in 2021–22
In 2021, Brendan moved to Adelaide. He then started playing cricket for the South Australia team.
Playing for Australia
International Opportunities
In September 2018, Brendan was chosen to be part of Australia's Test squad. This was for their series against Pakistan. However, he did not get to play in any matches during that series.
More recently, Brendan was picked to play for the Australia A team. This happened in 2024–25 when he replaced an injured player for the India A tour of Australia. In one of the unofficial Test matches, he took his third "five-wicket haul," getting 6 wickets for only 15 runs. In November 2024, he was added to the main Australian Test squad again. This was before the second Test match of the Indian tour of Australia, as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood.
