Brent Naden (born 30 December 1995) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays for the Wests Tigers in the National Rugby League (NRL). His main positions are centre and winger, which are attacking roles on the field.

Naden has also played for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the Penrith Panthers. He was part of the Penrith team that won the 2021 NRL Grand Final.

Background and Early Life

Naden was born in Wellington, New New South Wales. He is of Indigenous Australian (Wiradjuri) and German heritage. He went to Wellington High School.

He started playing junior rugby league for the Wellington Cowboys. His talent was noticed, and he was signed by the Penrith Panthers to join their youth teams.

Playing Career

The Road to the NRL

From 2014 to 2015, Naden played for the Penrith Panthers' NRL Under-20s team. In 2015, he was the captain when the team won the championship. He was also named to the NYC Team of the Year, which recognizes the best young players.

In 2016, he moved up to Penrith's team in the Intrust Super Premiership NSW, a league just below the NRL. The next year, he joined the Canberra Raiders but played for their partner team, the Mount Pritchard Mounties. In 2018, he signed with the Newcastle Knights but still didn't get to play in an NRL game.

Penrith Panthers (2019–2021)

Naden returned to the Penrith Panthers in 2019. He finally made his NRL debut in Round 12 against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. He quickly showed his skill, scoring two tries against the New Zealand Warriors in Round 15. One of these was an amazing 80-metre run where he dodged several players to score.

In 2020, Naden had a great season, scoring 12 tries in 19 games. Penrith finished first on the ladder, winning the Minor Premiership. He played in the 2020 NRL Grand Final, where Penrith lost a close game to the Melbourne Storm.

In 2021, Naden was part of the Penrith squad that won the NRL Grand Final. In April 2021, he signed a deal to join the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs the following year.

Canterbury and Wests Tigers (2022–Present)

Naden started the 2022 NRL season with Canterbury, making his club debut in a win against North Queensland. However, in May, he made a mid-season switch to the Wests Tigers. He even played for the Tigers against his old club, Canterbury, that same week. The Wests Tigers struggled that year and finished last, receiving the Wooden Spoon.

In the 2023 NRL season and 2024 NRL season, Naden continued to play for the Wests Tigers. Unfortunately, the team finished with the Wooden Spoon in both of those years as well.

During a pre-season game in February 2025, Naden had a serious knee injury but recovered to play later in the season.
