About Brent Naden
Naden was born in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia. He has both Indigenous Australian (Wiradjuri) and German family roots. He went to Wellington High School.
Brent started playing junior rugby league for his local team, the Wellington Cowboys. Later, he was signed by the Penrith Panthers to join their youth teams.
Playing Rugby League
Starting Out
From 2014 to 2015, Brent Naden played for the Penrith Panthers' team for players under 20 years old. He even captained the team to win a championship in 2015. He was also chosen as one of the best young players in the NYC Team of the Year.
In 2016, Naden moved up to play for Penrith's reserve grade team, the Intrust Super Premiership NSW team.
In 2017, Naden joined the Canberra Raiders. He played for their reserve team, Mount Pritchard Mounties, but did not play any games in the main NRL competition.
In 2018, Naden signed a one-year contract with the Newcastle Knights. Again, he played in their reserve team but did not make an NRL appearance.
Playing in the NRL
In 2019, Brent Naden returned to the Penrith Panthers. In May 2019, he played his very first NRL game for the Panthers against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.
Later that year, Naden showed his skills by scoring two tries in a game against the New Zealand Warriors. One of his tries was an amazing 80-metre run where he beat several players to score. Penrith won that game in extra time. He also scored two tries in another game against St George, helping Penrith win 40–18.
2020 Season Highlights
In 2020, Naden continued to play well for Penrith. He scored two tries in a big 42–0 win against Canterbury-Bankstown. The Penrith Panthers had a fantastic season, winning the Minor Premiership (meaning they finished first on the ladder before the finals).
Naden played in 19 games for Penrith in 2020 and scored 12 tries. He also played in the 2020 NRL Grand Final, where Penrith unfortunately lost to the Melbourne Storm.
Moving Teams
On April 28, 2021, it was announced that Naden would join the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs for the 2022 season. In his final games for Penrith, he scored two tries in a win against St. George Illawarra.
In 2022, Naden made his debut for the Canterbury Bulldogs in their first game of the season. However, in May 2022, he moved teams again and joined the Wests Tigers right away. He played his first game for the Wests Tigers against his old club, Canterbury, and the Tigers won.
During the 2022 season, Naden played ten games for the Wests Tigers. The team had a tough year and finished last in the competition, receiving the Wooden Spoon.
Recent Seasons
In the 2023 season, Brent Naden played eight games for the Wests Tigers and scored two tries. Unfortunately, the Wests Tigers finished last again, getting the Wooden Spoon for the second year in a row.
