Brent Whitfield's Soccer Journey
Playing in College and Early Games
Brent Whitfield played college soccer for the Fullerton Titans at California State University, Fullerton. Over four seasons, he scored 23 goals and helped his team with 9 assists. After college, he was not chosen in the draft, but he still played for the Southern California Seahorses in the USL Premier Development League during the 2004 season.
Playing Pro Soccer
In 2005, Brent Whitfield joined the Seattle Sounders, a team in the USL First Division. He played in 25 games for them and scored 6 goals.
In May 2006, Whitfield signed with Chivas USA, a team in Major League Soccer. He played 11 games for Chivas USA and scored 1 goal. He left the team at the end of the 2007 season.
In 2009, he became a player-head coach for the Los Angeles Legends in the USL Premier Development League. He had an amazing start, scoring three "hat tricks" in his first three games. A hat trick means scoring three goals in one game! He scored them on June 5, June 13, and June 19, helping his team win big.
In 2010, Whitfield moved to the Ventura County Fusion team. He scored another hat trick in his very first game with them on May 1.
Coaching Teams
Brent Whitfield has also worked as a coach. From 2001 to 2006, he coached the men's soccer team at Long Beach City College. In 2009, he was both a player and a coach for the Los Angeles Legends in the USL Premier Development League.
