Brent Black (born April 12, 1984), known as brentalfloss, is a musician and songwriter. He is famous for taking music from classic video games and adding funny lyrics to them. Some games he has covered include Punch-Out!!, Mega Man 2, and Donkey Kong Country.
Brent also creates his own original songs for his albums and YouTube channel. One of his first songs, "The Dreamer," was written when he was just 12 years old! His sister even helped name it.
Brent was born in Dallas, Texas. He studied music and writing in college. He earned a degree from the University of Oklahoma. Later, he got his master's degree in musical theatre writing from New York University. While at NYU, he helped write a musical play called "I’ll Be Damned."

Becoming a YouTube Star
Brent Black is most well-known for his YouTube videos. In these videos, he adds lyrics to popular video game tunes. His very first "with lyrics" video was for the title theme of Mega Man 3 on the NES.
Brent's stage name, "brentalfloss," is always spelled with small letters. He also acted in a web series called My Life as a Video Game. In the show, he played a smart computer character named Menu.
Beyond YouTube: Albums and More
Brentalfloss has released several music albums. His first CD, What If This CD... Had Lyrics?, came out in 2010. It had new versions of his popular "With Lyrics" songs. It also included special songs just for the CD. Other video game bands like The Megas were featured on it.
He later released a family-friendly version of the album. In 2011, he put out The Super-Secret EP under a different name, "DJ Super Secret."
Brent asked his fans for help to make his second CD. They helped him reach his goal of $4000! This album, Bits of Me, was released in 2012. In 2014, he released his third album, Flossophy.
Brent has also appeared in some online video reviews. He was in three Nostalgia Critic reviews, including ones for Moulin Rouge! and Les Misérables.
From 2012 to 2013, Brent also created a webcomic series. It ended after 200 comics.
From 2015 to 2020, Brent co-hosted a podcast called "Trends Like These." He talked about popular topics on social media with his former college roommate and a journalist. In 2019, he started another podcast called "Question Box."
Brent also helped create a video game called Use Your Words. It came out in 2017. He worked with game developer Julian Spillane on this fun party game.
In 2019, Brent announced he was making the music for a new video game. It's a cat-themed adventure game called A Purrtato Tail, set to be released in 2023.
