Brentalfloss's Music Journey

Becoming a YouTube Star

Brent Black is most famous for his YouTube videos. In these videos, he adds funny or clever lyrics to popular video game songs. His very first "with lyrics" video was based on the title music from Mega Man 3 for the NES. Brent's website says that his stage name, "brentalfloss," is always spelled with small letters. He also acts in a web series called My Life as a Video Game. In this show, he plays a supercomputer named Menu.

Music Beyond YouTube

Brentalfloss has also released several music albums. His first CD, What If This CD... Had Lyrics?, came out in 2010. This album included new versions of his popular YouTube songs. It also had extra songs that were only on the CD. Other video game bands like The Megas were featured on it. Some of his songs even reached the top 100 on iTunes comedy charts around the world. He later released a kid-friendly version and an instrumental version of this album.

In 2011, he released a secret album called The Super-Secret EP. He used the name "DJ Super Secret" for this project. Brentalfloss asked his fans for help to fund his second CD. He successfully raised the money needed. This album, Bits of Me, was released in June 2012. In February 2014, he released his third studio album, Flossophy.

Brent Black has also appeared in some online video reviews. He was in three Nostalgia Critic reviews, including those for Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 and Les Misérables. He also had a webcomic series from 2012 to 2013, which ended after 200 comics.

From 2015 to 2020, Brent co-hosted a podcast called "Trends Like These." On this show, he discussed trending topics from social media. In 2019, he started another podcast called Question Box with Kate Sloan.
