The Start of Bresler's
Bresler's 33 Flavors began in 1927. William J. Bresler wanted to create a fun place for people to enjoy ice cream. He built his company into a well-known brand.
Beyond Ice Cream
In 1954, Bresler's tried something new. They started a fast food hamburger chain. This new restaurant was called Henry's Hamburgers. It was another way the company grew.
Changes and New Owners
Over the years, Bresler's Ice Cream went through many changes. The company grew to have many stores across the United States.
Selling the Business
In 1987, the Bresler's chain was sold. A company called Oberweis Dairy bought it. At that time, there were over 300 Bresler's stores. Most of these stores were run by independent owners, called franchises.
New Name, New Treats
Soon after the sale, the name changed. It became "Bresler's Ice Cream" instead of "Bresler's 33 Flavors." The company also started selling frozen yogurt. This helped them compete with other popular frozen dessert shops. Two years later, Oberweis Dairy sold the chain to David Lasky.
Going International
In 1995, a larger company bought Bresler's. This was CoolBrands, which also owned Yogen Früz. CoolBrands wanted to expand Bresler's worldwide. They opened new locations in countries like Israel and Egypt.
By 2007, CoolBrands decided to change the remaining Bresler's stores. They rebranded them, meaning they changed the name and look. This marked the end of Bresler's Ice Cream as a separate brand.
