Brett Goodes (born 17 February 1984) is a former professional Australian rules football player. He played for the Western Bulldogs team in the Australian Football League (AFL). Brett is the younger brother of Adam Goodes, who was a famous player for the Sydney Swans.
Brett played for teams like North Ballarat in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and NT Thunder in the Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL). Later, he started working for the Western Bulldogs as a player development manager. While working there, he also played for their VFL team, Williamstown. He played 40 games for Williamstown in 2011 and 2012. He was even named the best player in the finals in 2011.
At the end of the 2012 season, the Western Bulldogs invited him to train with their main team. He was then chosen by the club in the 2013 Rookie Draft. This was a big step for him to play in the AFL.
Playing in the AFL
First Games with the Bulldogs
Brett Goodes made his first appearance in the AFL for the Western Bulldogs in 2013. His very first game was against Brisbane Lions at Etihad Stadium. In his second game against Fremantle, he played very well and was one of the best players on the field.
Challenges and Comebacks
After a good first year, Brett found it harder to play well in the 2014 season. He mostly played for the club's VFL team that year. Even though he wasn't playing in the main AFL team as much, he won the Best and Fairest award for the VFL team.
At the end of the 2014 AFL season, Brett was "delisted." This means the club decided not to keep him on their main player list. However, the Bulldogs chose him again in the 2014 rookie draft. He was then moved back to the senior team before the 2015 season started.
Brett played for the Bulldogs until the end of the 2015 AFL season. After that, he was delisted again and finished his professional playing career.
