Brett Gray was born on August 7, 1997. He is an American actor and singer. You might know him best for playing Jamal Turner in the Netflix show On My Block. He also voices Dal R'El in the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon.

About Brett Gray

Brett Gray grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He started acting in school plays when he was just 6 years old. By age 7, he was performing in professional shows! One of his first big stages was the Academy of Music.

He went to The Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. There, he focused on theater and graduated in 2014.

Becoming an Actor

Brett got his first main acting role as Jamal in On My Block. This show ran from 2018 to 2021. He really wanted the part because he felt he was a lot like the character, Jamal.

In an interview, Brett shared that he also wanted to try out physical comedy. This is a type of acting where humor comes from body movements. He hadn't done much of it before On My Block.

Brett also had a smaller part in the 2019 Netflix series When They See Us.

Brett's Music

Besides acting, Brett Gray is also a singer! He released his first song, "Old Thing Back," in June 2018. Later that year, on his birthday (August 7, 2018), he released his first music collection called an EP, titled Easy Daze. He said the style of his music was similar to Usher's album Confessions.
