Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse was a small town, also known as a "commune," located in northwestern France. It was part of the Calvados area, which is a "department" or administrative region, within the larger Normandy region.
On January 1, 2017, Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse joined with other nearby towns to form a new, larger commune called Thue et Mue. This means it is no longer a separate commune on its own.
How Many People Lived There?
Over the years, the number of people living in Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse changed quite a bit. In 1962, there were 761 residents. By 1990, the population had grown to 2,177 people.
The population continued to increase, reaching 2,389 in 1999. In 2019, before it became part of Thue et Mue, the town had 3,155 residents. This shows that more and more people chose to live in this area over time.
