Brian Browne (March 16, 1937 – June 5, 2018) was a talented Canadian jazz pianist and composer. He was known for his amazing piano skills and for creating beautiful music.

Brian Browne was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on March 16, 1937. He grew up to become a very important musician. He played the piano and also wrote his own songs. Brian started his music career in 1956 and played for many years until 2018.

His Musical Journey

Brian Browne started playing music in popular jazz clubs. He performed in cities like Ottawa and Toronto. People loved to hear him play. He also appeared on many national radio shows. These shows were on CBC Radio, like Adventures in Rhythm and The Browne Beat. He was a regular on shows like Nightcap and Jazz Canada too.

Brian had his own group called the Brian Browne Trio. They were the main band on a TV show called The River Inn. This was a musical variety program on CTV. In 1969, Brian was featured on a special CBC television show. It was called The Jazz Piano. He was one of only four pianists chosen for this show. The other famous pianists included Bill Evans and Erroll Garner.

Recording His Music

Brian Browne recorded many albums during his career. He made 11 albums in total. These albums were released on different record labels. Some of these labels included Capitol Records and RCA Victor. He also recorded with CBC JazzImage and Sea Jam Recordings. Sea Jam Recordings is now known as Triplet Records.

Brian Browne passed away on June 5, 2018, after battling an illness. He left behind a wonderful collection of jazz music for everyone to enjoy.
