Brian Holland was born on February 15, 1941. He is an American songwriter and music producer. He is famous for being part of a team called Holland–Dozier–Holland. This team created many hit songs for Motown Records.
They helped shape the "Motown sound." This sound was popular in the 1960s. Brian Holland and his team wrote songs for many famous groups. These included Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers. Brian Holland worked with Lamont Dozier as a music arranger and producer. He helped create 145 hit songs in the US and 78 in the UK.
Brian Holland's Early Life and Music Beginnings
Brian Holland was born in Detroit, Michigan. He is the brother of Eddie Holland. Brian started his music career early.
For a short time, he worked with Robert Bateman. They were known as "Brianbert." They helped write the hit song "Please Mr. Postman" for The Marvelettes. Brian Holland also performed music himself. In 1958, he released a song as a solo artist.
He was in a group called the Fidalatones with his friend Freddie Gorman. Later, from 1960 to 1962, he was part of The Satintones. This was another group that recorded for Motown. He also sang with the Rayber Voices. This group sang backup for many early Motown artists.
Brian Holland also teamed up with Lamont Dozier. They released a song together in 1963. Brian continued to make music as a solo artist in the 1970s. He had several rhythm and blues (R&B) hits during that time.

In 2019, Brian Holland wrote a book. He wrote it with his brother Eddie and Dave Thompson. The book is about the Holland–Dozier–Holland team. It is called Come and Get These Memories. This title comes from a hit song by Martha and the Vandellas.
