About Brian Kerwin
Brian Kerwin was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in a town called Flossmoor, Illinois. He has three brothers and sisters: Anne, Dennis, and Terrence.
Brian married Jeanne Marie Troy on September 2, 1990. They had three children together: Finn, Matilda, and Brennan. Sadly, Jeanne passed away at their home in Venice, California, on February 11, 2016. She was 55 years old and had been battling brain cancer for three years.
Brian's Acting Career
After finishing film school at USC Film School in 1972, Brian Kerwin moved to New York City. He wanted to work in theater, which means acting in plays.
On Stage: Theater Plays
In 1988, Brian won an award called the Theatre World Award for his acting in an off-Broadway play called Emily. Off-Broadway plays are usually smaller productions than those on Broadway.
He has also acted in several famous Broadway plays. These include a new version of The Little Foxes in 1997. In 2005, he was in the comedy After the Night and the Music. That same year, he performed in The Goat or Who Is Sylvia? at the Mark Taper Forum.
In 1989, Brian played the character Nick in a play called Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in Los Angeles. He acted alongside famous actors like Glenda Jackson and John Lithgow. Later, in 2006, he performed in The Man from Nebraska. His most recent play on Broadway was August: Osage County.
On Screen: Movies and TV Shows
Brian Kerwin has been in many feature films. Some of his well-known movies include Murphy's Romance, Hard Promises, and 27 Dresses, where he played the father of the main character. He also appeared in Torch Song Trilogy, Love Field, Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain, Jack, King Kong Lives, and The Myth of Fingerprints.
Brian has also had a very busy career in television. He started on the daytime show The Young and the Restless in 1976. He had regular roles on the show Beggars and Choosers. He also had recurring roles on shows like The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo, The Chisholms, Roseanne, The West Wing, Nip/Tuck, and Big Love.
He has also made guest appearances on many popular TV shows. These include The Love Boat, Simon & Simon, Highway to Heaven, Murder, She Wrote, St. Elsewhere, Frasier, Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Blue Bloods, Boston Legal, Medium, Without a Trace, and Desperate Housewives. From 2007 to 2012, he was a regular on the soap opera One Life to Live.
