As a freshman in 2011, Brian played in 12 games and started in eight of them. He played as a free safety and also helped with nickel coverage, which is a special defensive play. He also had a very important pass break-up on the final play. By playing in the Outback Bowl victory against Northwestern, Brian set a new record for Tennessee. He played in 53 games during his college career, more than any other player in the team's history.

Injury and Release
Unfortunately, Brian tore a ligament in his knee (ACL) during his first preseason game. Because of this injury, he was placed on injured reserve on August 15, 2016. This meant he couldn't play for the rest of the season. On June 21, 2017, the Rams decided to release Brian from their team.
