Early Life and Family
Brian Stapylton was the oldest son of Sir Henry Stapylton, 1st Baronet. His mother was Elizabeth Darcy. Her father was Conyers Darcy, 1st Earl of Holderness. Brian's father, Sir Henry, was also a Member of Parliament (MP). He received the Baronet title in 1660.
Brian went to Christ Church, Oxford, a famous university. He started there in 1674 when he was 17. He earned his first degree in 1677. When his father passed away in 1679, Brian became the 2nd Baronet. He also inherited Myton Hall.
In 1680, Sir Brian married Anne Kaye. Her father was Sir John Kaye, 2nd Baronet.

Local Roles in Yorkshire
In 1683, he became a Justice of the Peace (JP) for West Yorkshire. A JP helps keep law and order in their local area. For one year, from 1683 to 1684, he was the High Sheriff of Yorkshire. This was a very important role, like being the chief law enforcement officer for the county. In 1685, he also became a Deputy Lieutenant of Yorkshire. This role involved helping with military matters and keeping peace.
He lost these local jobs briefly in 1688 but got them back in 1689.
Serving in Parliament
Sir Brian was first elected as a Member of Parliament for Aldborough in 1679. After a break, he was elected again in 1690 for Boroughbridge. This had been his father's old seat in Parliament. He continued to serve as an MP until the general election in 1715.
Later Life and Legacy
Sir Brian Stapylton passed away on 23 November 1727. He and his wife, Anne, had three children:

His son, John, took over the Baronet title after his death.
