Brian Taylor's Basketball Journey

Brian Taylor was a talented 6-foot-2-inch point guard. He played college basketball at Princeton University. In 1972, the Seattle SuperSonics picked him in the second round of the 1972 NBA draft.

Starting in the ABA

Instead of joining the NBA right away, Brian began his professional career in the ABA. He played four seasons for the New York Nets. During his time in the ABA, he was chosen to play in two ABA All-Star Games. He also helped the Nets win two ABA championships in 1974 and 1976. In 1973, he was named the ABA Rookie of the Year.

Moving to the NBA

In 1976, the New York Nets joined the NBA. Brian Taylor was then traded to the Kansas City Kings. He had a great season in 1976–77, scoring a career-high 17 points per game. He also played for the Denver Nuggets and the San Diego Clippers. A serious injury ended his playing career in 1982.

Three-Point Line Pioneer

In the 1979–80 NBA season, the NBA started using the three-point line for the first time. Brian Taylor was a leader in this new era. He made the most three-point shots in the league that season, with a total of 90.
