Brice Johnson, born on June 27, 1994, is an American professional basketball player. He recently played for the Nelson Giants in New Zealand's National Basketball League. He played college basketball for the University of North Carolina, finishing in 2016. The Los Angeles Clippers picked him in the first round of the 2016 NBA draft.

Early Life and High School Basketball

Brice Johnson grew up in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He went to Edisto High School, where his dad was the head basketball coach. When Brice was a teenager, his mother, Renee Johnson, sadly passed away from colon cancer.

College Basketball Career

Brice Johnson played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Sophomore and Junior Seasons

As a sophomore, Johnson averaged 10.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. In his junior year, he was named to the third-team All-ACC. He averaged 12.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game that season.

Senior Year Highlights

Johnson's senior season was his best. He was a co-captain and helped the Tar Heels win the ACC regular season title. They also won the ACC tournament championship.

On January 4, 2016, Johnson had an amazing game against Florida State. He scored 39 points and grabbed 23 rebounds. He was only the second North Carolina player ever to achieve such high numbers in one game.

He set a new school record for most double-doubles in a season. A double-double is when a player gets double-digit numbers in two different stats, like points and rebounds. Johnson also tied the school record for most rebounds in a season with 399. He later broke this record, finishing the season with 416 rebounds.

Johnson was chosen for the Associated Press' 2015–16 All-America team. He led the Tar Heels, along with Marcus Paige, to the NCAA men's basketball championship game. They lost a close game to Villanova, 77–74, where Johnson scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds.
