History of Briggs
This community is thought to be named after a local merchant. His name was John Briggs.

Briggs is found in the eastern part of Cherokee County. It is located east of Tahlequah. Tahlequah is the main city and county seat for Cherokee County. Briggs is situated along U.S. Route 62.
