Brighton is a small, quiet community located in LaGrange County, within Greenfield Township, in the state of Indiana, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's not officially a city or a town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county and township.
History
Brighton has a bit of history! It was first planned out and named Lexington way back in 1836. Just one year later, in 1837, a post office opened in the community. This post office was given the name Brighton, which is how the area got its current name. The Brighton post office served the community for many years, helping people send and receive mail, until it finally closed in 1911.
