Brisk Island is a small island located in the Great Palm Island group in Australia. Its traditional name in the Nyawaygi language is Culgarool. The island is very close to Great Palm Island, which is where the whole island group gets its name. Brisk Island is part of the Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council, along with nine other islands in the group.
Exploring Brisk Island's Location and Size
Brisk Island is found in Queensland, Australia, specifically in Halifax Bay. It's about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) southwest of Palm Island. The island is quite small, covering about 0.51 square kilometers (51 hectares).
What About Fresh Water?
Interestingly, Brisk Island does not have any natural sources of fresh water. This is also true for nearby Havannah and Fly islands.
A Glimpse into Brisk Island's History
In the past, Brisk Island was officially set aside as a special area on September 20, 1941. This was done to potentially expand the Palm Island Aboriginal Settlement. However, the island was never actually used for this purpose.
