Brittany Lee Lewis (born July 21, 1990) is an amazing person who does many things! She is an activist, a television personality, and even a DJ. She was crowned Miss Delaware in 2014 and Miss Black America in 2017. Brittany grew up in Brigantine, New Jersey. She often shares her thoughts on TV shows like RT News and Fox5DC.

Brittany cares deeply about helping people. She speaks out about domestic violence awareness. This is a very important topic to her because of a personal family experience. She is also a historian and a teacher. She has taught at colleges and other schools. Brittany has earned several degrees and is working on her PhD in history.

Becoming a Pageant Star

Brittany started entering pageants when she was 21 years old. She was a senior in college at the time. Pageants helped her earn money to pay for her school loans.

Early Pageant Success

In 2012, Brittany won the title of Miss Greater Reading Pennsylvania. She also placed third in the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant. For her talent, she performed ballet en pointe. She danced to music from "Don Quixote: Kitri Variation".

The next year, in 2013, she was crowned Miss Hockessin. She later hosted the pageant herself in 2014.

Miss Delaware and Miss Black America

On September 14, 2014, Brittany competed as Miss Delaware. This was for the Miss America Pageant. She earned first runner-up for the Quality of Life Award. This award recognizes contestants who make a positive impact. She later gave a shoe she wore in the pageant to the Atlantic City History Museum.

Almost three years later, Brittany won another big title. She was crowned Miss Black America 2017 on August 26, 2017. During this pageant, she danced to "Stomp to my Beat" by JS16. Brittany later shared that she competed in the pageant as part of her research. This research was for her PhD studies.

Brittany's Education Journey

Brittany has worked hard to get a great education. She has studied many interesting subjects.

High School and College

Brittany graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 2008. After high school, she went to Temple University. There, she earned a BA degree. She studied two main subjects: African-American Studies and Broadcast Journalism.

While at Temple University, Brittany was very active. She danced competitively on the Diamond Gem Dance Team. She also helped start the Black New Voice Newsletter. She joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority too.

Advanced Degrees

In 2013, Brittany earned her MA Degree in Secondary Education. This was part of the Teach for America program. This program helps new teachers work in schools that need them most.

In 2015, Brittany started her PhD program. She went to George Washington University. She specializes in African-American history. She also studies urban history, women's history, and 20th-century US history. Her focus is on political ideas, social movements, and the government.

Brittany also teaches as a professor at Wilmington University. She teaches a course called "Ethnic Studies: The Black Woman.”
