Brooke Allison Brodack (born April 7, 1986), known online as Brookers, is one of the very first YouTubers. She started uploading short comedy videos to YouTube in September 2005. At that time, YouTubers could not earn money from their videos.

In 2006, a TV host named Carson Daly offered her a contract, but nothing came from it. For 43 days in 2006, from July 3 to August 15, her channel was the most-subscribed on YouTube. It was the first channel to reach 10,000 subscribers. Brooke Brodack was also the first female YouTuber to have the most subscribers. The New Yorker magazine called her "the first real YouTube star" in December 2006.

Brooke later lived with another YouTuber, iJustine. After that, she deleted her YouTube channel and moved to Vadodara, India. She moved to Los Angeles in early 2017.

Early Life and Background

Brooke Brodack was born in Putnam, Connecticut. She started making videos when she was nine years old. After finishing high school, she went to a few colleges but did not finish her studies at any of them.

From 2003 to 2006, Brooke worked as a receptionist and hostess at a restaurant. She also volunteered from 2003 to 2005 for the NEADS program. This program trains dogs to help people who are deaf or have disabilities. Brooke lived in Holden, Massachusetts with her mother and younger sister.

How She Became Famous Online

Brooke Brodack began sharing her short, funny videos on her "Brookers" YouTube channel in September 2005. By June 2006, she was offered a contract by Carson Daly, a host on NBC. However, this contract did not lead to any TV shows or projects.

From July 3 to August 17, 2006, her "Brookers" channel had the most subscribers on YouTube. The Wall Street Journal newspaper also recognized her as a "Crossover Star" in July 2006.

Her Popular Videos

Brooke made, edited, and acted in her early videos. Most of these videos were filmed at her family home. The New Yorker described her videos as "defiantly madcap," meaning they were very silly and wild.

Her most popular video was "Crazed Numa Fan!!!!" In this video, she lip-synced to a popular internet song called "Numa Numa Dance." This video was watched over 8.2 million times on YouTube. Her younger sister, Melissa "Missy" Brodack, often appeared in her videos, including "Crazed Numa Fan!!!!"

Another video, "Chips," was a funny suspense story about eating potato chips. Entertainment Weekly magazine called it "brilliant" and listed it as one of the "great moments in YouTube history."

Other Appearances

From August 2006 to April 2007, Brooke played a big part in a video contest website called It's Your Show TV. This website was sponsored by NBC and hosted by Carson Daly. She also appeared on The Tyra Banks Show in December 2006 as a judge for a student video competition. In February 2007, she was in a music video for the band Barenaked Ladies called "The Sound of Your Voice."

From May 2007 to March 2008, Brooke had her own web channel, brookebrodack.tv. This channel was part of a new service that Carson Daly helped create. She also attended a YouTube gathering in New York City in July 2007. In November 2007, she made a video advertisement called "Ozzy's Magical Glasses n' Stuff." This video was for an auction of items belonging to the musician Ozzy Osbourne.

Later Life and Channels

From mid-2013 to early 2017, Brooke lived in Vadodara, India. There, she worked on video workshop lessons with a company called Design Infinium.

In February 2017, she moved to Los Angeles. On July 12, 2017, Brooke deleted her YouTube account. She also deleted her Twitter and made her Instagram profile private.

In mid-2018, she started a new YouTube channel with her own name, but this channel also no longer exists. On December 11, 2018, Brooke Brodack created another new YouTube channel using her real name. As of March 2025, this channel had 1,870 subscribers.
