Brooke Raboutou (born April 9, 2001) is an amazing French-American professional rock climber. She is a part of the US National Team. Brooke is known for her skills in competition climbing. She won a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This was for the combined event of bouldering and lead climbing.

About Brooke's Early Life

Brooke comes from a family of climbers! Both of her parents, Didier Raboutou and Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou, were world champion climbers. They were also very good at climbing outdoors. Her brother, Shawn Raboutou, is also a professional rock climber. He is especially good at bouldering.

Brooke went to the University of San Diego. She even took some time off to train for the Olympics!

Amazing Rock Climbing Feats

Brooke started climbing incredible routes at a very young age.

  • At age 9, she climbed a V10 (7C+) boulder. She was the youngest girl to climb a 5.13b (8a) sport climbing route.
  • At 10, she climbed a V11 (8A) boulder. She also became the youngest girl to climb a 5.13d (8b) sport route.
  • At 11, she was the youngest girl to climb a 5.14b (8c) sport route.

In October 2023, Brooke climbed a very hard boulder called Box Therapy. It was a V16 (8C+) boulder. She was only the second woman to complete it!

Competition Climbing Success

Brooke has had many successes in climbing competitions.

  • She competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She finished in 5th place in the combined event.
  • In April 2023, she won her first gold medal at an IFSC Climbing World Cup event. This happened in Hachioji, Japan.
  • In 2024, Brooke earned her spot for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She did this by ranking first in the Olympic Qualifier Series.
  • At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Brooke won the silver medal! This was in the combined bouldering and lead event. She made history as the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in sport climbing.
