Brooke Raboutou (born April 9, 2001) is an amazing rock climber from the United States. She is a professional athlete who competes in different types of climbing. These include competition climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering.

Brooke won a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This was for the combined bouldering and lead climbing event. She also made history by becoming the first woman ever to climb a super hard sport climbing route called Excalibur. This climb was rated 5.15c (9b+).

Early Life and Family

Brooke grew up in a family of talented climbers. Both of her parents, Didier Raboutou and Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou, were world champion climbers. They were also famous for climbing outdoors.

Her brother, Shawn Raboutou, is also a professional rock climber. He is especially good at bouldering. Brooke went to the University of San Diego.

Climbing Achievements

Brooke Raboutou has achieved many impressive things in her climbing career. She started climbing at a very young age.

Early Rock Climbing Feats

Brooke showed her climbing skills early on.

  • At age 9, she climbed a difficult boulder problem rated V10 (7C+). She was the youngest woman to climb a sport climbing route rated 5.13b (8a).
  • When she was 10, she climbed a V11 (8A) boulder. She also became the youngest woman to climb a 5.13d (8b) sport climbing route.
  • At 11, she set another record. She was the youngest woman to climb a 5.14b (8c) sport climbing route.

In October 2023, Brooke made the second female ascent of Box Therapy. This was a very hard boulder problem. She suggested it should be rated V15 (8C).

In April 2025, Brooke achieved something truly historic. She was the first woman to climb Excalibur. This sport climbing route is rated 5.15c (9b+). This made her the first woman ever to climb a route of that difficulty.

Competition Climbing Success

Brooke has also had a lot of success in competition climbing. This is where climbers compete against each other indoors.

She competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She finished in 5th place in the combined event.

In April 2023, Brooke won her first gold medal at an IFSC Climbing World Cup event. This happened in Hachioji, Japan, for the Bouldering World Cup.

Brooke earned a spot for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She did this by placing first in the Olympic Qualifier Series. At the Paris Olympics, she won a silver medal in the combined event. This made her the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in sport climbing.

Brooke has earned many medals in the IFSC Climbing World Cup series.

  • In 2023, she won a gold medal in Bouldering at the Hachioji World Cup.

  • Brooke has won many bronze medals in both Bouldering and Lead events across different years.

She finished third overall in the Bouldering World Cup season rankings in both 2022 and 2023.

World Championships Medals

Brooke has also performed well at the IFSC Climbing World Championships.

  • In 2023, she won a bronze medal in Bouldering at the World Championships in Bern.
  • As a youth climber, she won several medals at the Youth World Championships. This includes a gold medal in Lead in 2018. She also won a gold in Combined in 2016.
