Brooks is a small, quiet place in Summers County, West Virginia, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
Brooks is located right along the New River. This river is very old and important to the area. The community is just north of Hinton. Hinton is the main town, or county seat, for Summers County. Brooks sits at an elevation of about 1,657 feet (505 meters) above sea level.
History of Brooks
Brooks got its name from one of the first people who settled there. Early settlers often named places after themselves or their families. This was a common way to honor those who helped start a new community.
