Brownlow Cecil, 8th Earl of Exeter (born August 4, 1701 – died November 3, 1754) was an important person in British history. He was a peer, which means he belonged to the noble families of Britain. He was also a Member of Parliament, which means he helped make laws for the country. From 1701 to 1722, he was known as the Honourable Brownlow Cecil.

Life and Family

Brownlow Cecil was the second son of John Cecil, 6th Earl of Exeter, and Elizabeth Brownlow. He went to St John's College, Cambridge for his education.

In 1722, he briefly served as a representative for Stamford in the House of Commons. This is one of the main parts of the British Parliament, where elected people discuss and create laws. Soon after, his older brother passed away, and Brownlow became the Earl of Exeter. This meant he then joined the House of Lords, which is another important part of Parliament, usually made up of nobles.

On July 18, 1724, Lord Exeter married Hannah Sophia Chambers. Her father, Thomas Chambers, was a successful businessman in London.

Brownlow Cecil passed away in November 1754 when he was 53 years old. His oldest son, also named Brownlow, took over his titles. Lady Exeter, his wife, died later in 1765.

Lord Exeter also had a daughter named Lady Ann Cecil. She was born in 1734 and passed away in 1785. She was the youngest child of Brownlow and Hannah Sophia, and the sister of the 9th Earl.
