Brunswick is a small place in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's not an official city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

Brunswick is about 7.5 miles (12 km) northeast of Bartlett. Its borders aren't exact, but it's generally near the Loosahatchie River to the north. Oliver Creek is to the east, and U.S. Route 70 is to the south. Germantown Road and Craven Road are to the west.

Brunswick first grew around the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. This railroad is now owned by CSX Transportation. Many families have lived in Brunswick for a very long time. Some of these families are buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. This cemetery is on Brunswick Road, between the railroad tracks and U.S. Route 70.

For a long time, Brunswick was mostly a quiet, country area. It was different from other parts of Shelby County. But in the 2000s, new neighborhoods started to be built there.

What is Annexation?

Annexation is when a city officially takes over a nearby area. This means the city's borders expand to include that new land. The people living in the annexed area then become part of the city. They get city services like police and fire departments.

Brunswick's Annexation History

The area of Brunswick is in a special zone. This zone is where the city of Bartlett might expand. In September 2012, Bartlett announced its plan. It said it would likely annex the area south of the CSX railroad. This annexation happened in early 2013.

A part of Brunswick, just east of Oliver Creek, is now inside the city of Lakeland. This means only the area north of the CSX railroad tracks in Brunswick is not yet part of a city.
