Bryan Akipa is a talented Dakota musician. He is famous for playing the Native American flute. He has released five solo albums. Bryan Akipa is a member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate tribe.
He has performed at many special events. One of these is A Prairie Awakening. This is an annual event held in Earlham, Iowa. Bryan Akipa also studied art. He went to the Institute of American Indian Arts. He also learned fine arts from the famous painter Oscar Howe at the University of South Dakota.

- His album Thunder Flute was nominated in 1999. It was also a finalist for the Indie awards.
- In 2001, Eagle Dreams received a nomination.

He also played on the album My Relatives Say. This album was by Mary Louise Defender Wilson. It won the NAMA for Best Spoken Word recording in 2000.
National Heritage Fellowship
