University of South Dakota facts for kids
The University of South Dakota (often called USD) is a public university located in Vermillion, South Dakota. It's a place where students go to learn and get a higher education after high school. About 10,515 students attend USD. The university was started a long time ago, in 1862. The person in charge of the university right now is James W. Abbott.
Sports at the University of South Dakota
The sports teams at the University of South Dakota are known as the Coyotes. A coyote is a type of wild dog found in North America! USD has 15 different sports teams that compete against other universities. These are called "varsity teams." Most of these teams play in a group called The Summit League. This league helps organize games and competitions between different schools. The football team has its own special group, the Missouri Valley Football Conference. This means they play against other football teams from that conference.
