Bryant "Cruther" Nelson, born on January 27, 1974, is a former professional baseball player. He played as a second baseman and outfielder. He even played for the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB) for one season.

Bryant Nelson's Baseball Journey
Starting His Career
Bryant Nelson started his baseball journey when he was picked by the San Francisco Giants in the 1992 draft. He was first chosen as a pitcher right out of high school. Later, the Houston Astros drafted him in 1993. This time, he was drafted as a shortstop.
He played his first professional season with the Auburn Astros in 1994. He was a switch-hitter, meaning he could bat from both sides. In 1995, he had a great year, hitting for a high average. He also hit 3 home runs and had 52 RBI.
Playing for Many Teams
Nelson played for many different teams throughout his career. His last season with a major league-affiliated team was in 2005. He played for the Toronto Blue Jays' Triple-A team, the Syracuse SkyChiefs.
In 2008, he played for four different teams! These included the New Jersey Jackals and the Long Island Ducks. He also played in the Mexican League for the Sultanes de Monterrey and Piratas de Campeche.
In 2009, he joined the Camden Riversharks and hit very well. He then signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers for the 2010 season.
A Big Achievement
On June 2, 2016, Bryant Nelson reached a huge milestone. He became part of the Atlantic League 1,000 Hit Club. This means he got his 1,000th hit in that league. Only two other players had achieved this before him!
Life After Playing
Today, Bryant Nelson is a head coach at Bo Porter Academy. He works there with Bo Porter, who is a first base coach for the Anaheim Angels.
