Bryony Kate Frances Page is a famous British trampoline gymnast. She was born on December 10, 1990. Bryony won the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris for individual trampoline. She is also a two-time world champion, winning in 2021 and 2023.
Bryony made history at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She became the first British trampolinist to win an Olympic medal, taking home the silver. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she won a bronze medal. Her amazing win in 2024 made her the first British Olympic champion in trampolining. Early Life and School
Bryony Page was born in Crewe, England. She went to Brine Leas School and Malbank School. Bryony started trampolining when she was nine years old.
She later studied biology at the University of Sheffield. She received a special sports scholarship there. In 2015, she graduated with top honors. Her final project was a study about sounds made by dinosaurs. After finishing university, she focused completely on trampolining.
Bryony's Trampoline Career
Early in her career, Bryony faced a challenge called the "yips." This is when athletes lose some control over their movements. It affected her confidence for two years. But she worked hard and overcame it in 2010 with help from a coach.
She competed in her first World Championships in 2010. She finished fourth in the individual event. In 2011, she helped her team win a silver medal at the World Championships. Bryony missed the 2012 Olympic Games in London due to illness and injuries. However, she won a gold medal at the 2012 World Cup in Sofia.
Winning British and European Titles
Bryony won three British Championship titles in a row from 2013 to 2015. She was also part of the British teams that won gold medals. These wins were at the 2013 World Championships and the 2014 and 2016 European Championships. She placed fifth in the individual event at the 2015 World Championships.
Olympic Success
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Bryony Page and her teammate Kat Driscoll made history. They were the first British trampolinists to reach the Olympic final. Bryony qualified in seventh place. In the final, she scored 56.040 points, which put her in the lead for a while. The defending champion, Rosie MacLennan, then scored slightly higher. Bryony won the silver medal, which was the first Olympic medal for a British trampolinist.
At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Bryony won a bronze medal. This was another amazing achievement. Later that year, she won individual gold at the 2021 World Championships. Her team also won a bronze medal there.
In 2024, Bryony won gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This was the first Olympic trampoline gold medal for a British gymnast. Bryony was also one of the flag-bearers for Great Britain at the closing ceremony. She shared this honor with triathlete Alex Yee.
Future Plans
In November 2024, Bryony announced exciting news. She plans to train with Cirque du Soleil in Montreal. She hopes to join their famous show on tour next year.
