History of Buena Vista
Buena Vista has a short but interesting history. A post office was open here from 1866 to 1878. For a short time, the place was even known as The Corners.

Today, Buena Vista is close to the Buena Vista Rancheria. This is a 67-acre area that belongs to the Miwok tribe. The rancheria is managed by the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians. This is a federally recognized tribe, meaning the U.S. government officially recognizes them. The current tribal chairperson is Pope Rhonda Morningstar.
