Buenavista covers an area of about 25.98 square kilometers. This makes it the smallest district in the San Carlos canton. It sits at an elevation of 865 meters above sea level, with some parts ranging from 500 to 900 meters high.
This district is found in the northern part of Costa Rica. It shares its borders with two other districts: Florencia to the north and northwest, and Quesada to the north and northeast. To the south, it borders the Zarcero canton.
The main town of Buenavista is about 13.3 kilometers (a 35-minute drive) northwest of Ciudad Quesada. It's also about 94.9 kilometers (a 2-hour and 37-minute drive) northwest of San Jose, which is the capital city of Costa Rica. The land in Buenavista is quite hilly and has steep slopes, making it a unique place.
Buenavista is a special place for dairy farming. This means many people here work with cows to produce milk and other dairy products.
Local Services and Development
Even though it's a small district, Buenavista has some important services for its residents. There's a health post where people can get medical care, a school for children to learn, and a grocery store for daily needs. Most of the buildings in Buenavista are homes.
How Projects Boost the Economy
The community has seen its economy and development grow thanks to a hydroelectric project. This project uses water to create electricity, which has brought many benefits to the area. Also, a new highway connecting San Carlos and San Ramón is being built. This new road will likely make Buenavista a more popular place to visit and live, helping its economy even more.
