What Building 6981 Looks Like

Building 6981 is a single room structure. It is about 20 feet long and 20 feet wide. That's like a small classroom! It was built on a very strong concrete base that is 3 feet thick.

The outside walls are made of concrete poured over wire mesh. This made the building very strong and secure. The inside floor space is about 360 square feet. The inside walls are about 13.5 feet tall, reaching up to wooden beams on the ceiling.

The inside walls are covered with pine boards. There are two large doors, one on the north side and one on the south side. These doors are 4.5 feet wide and 6.5 feet tall. The doors on the south side are covered with sheet metal for extra protection.

The roof is also made of concrete over wire mesh. It has a special raised center part, called a clerestory. This design helped with ventilation, letting fresh air in and out.

On the north side, there is a concrete loading platform. It is 20 feet long and almost 6 feet wide. This platform was used for loading and unloading items. The south entrance originally had concrete steps. Now, a concrete ramp has been added to make it easier for everyone to access the building. This follows the ADA rules.
