Bullseye (UK game show) facts for kids
Bullseye was a super popular British TV game show where people played darts and answered questions. It was a fun way to win prizes and money! The show was hosted by the famous Jim Bowen. If you won enough, you even got a chance to play for Bully's special star prize.
About Bullseye
Bullseye first started way back in 1981 on ITV, a big TV channel in the UK. It ran for many years, all the way until 1995! Later, in 2006, the show came back for another series on a channel called Challenge, with a new host, Dave Spikey. There was even a version of Bullseye in a place called Transmania, which ran from 1987 to 1996 and was hosted by Robert Shukoff.
How the Game Works
Bullseye was a game show that mixed skill with knowledge.
- Two teams, each with two players, competed in every episode.
- One player from the team would throw darts at a special dartboard.
- The other player would answer general knowledge questions.
- The dartboard had different sections, and landing a dart in a section would win the team money.
- Answering questions correctly also added money to their score.
- The goal was to collect as much money as possible by hitting darts and answering questions.
Winning the Star Prize
The team that earned the most money by the end of the main game got a chance to play for the "Bully's Star Prize Gamble."
- This was the most exciting part of the show!
- The team had to decide if they wanted to risk all the money they had won.
- If they risked their money, they played one final darts game.
- If they did well in this final game, they could win a big "star prize," which was often something exciting like a new car or a holiday!
- If they didn't win the star prize, they would go home with some consolation prizes and their money from the main game.
Who Hosted Bullseye?
The main host of Bullseye for most of its run was Jim Bowen. He was very well-known for his friendly style and his famous catchphrases, like "Super, smashing, great!" and "You can't beat a bit of Bully!" Jim Bowen made the show a lot of fun to watch.
When Bullseye returned in 2006, it was hosted by Dave Spikey. He brought his own style to the show, keeping the spirit of the original but adding a fresh touch for new viewers.
