The Burj Al Arab is a super fancy and famous hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It's known all over the world for its amazing design, which looks like the sail of a traditional Arab ship called a dhow. This hotel is one of the tallest hotels in the world. About the Burj Al Arab
The Burj Al Arab is often called the world's only "7-star hotel." This isn't an official rating, but it shows how incredibly luxurious and special the hotel is. It offers an experience like no other.
Design and Construction
The hotel was designed by architect Tom Wright. Construction started in 1994 and it opened its doors in December 1999. It cost about US$1 billion to build this amazing structure.
The Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island built just off the coast of Dubai. This island is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. The hotel is 321 meters (1,053 feet) tall.
Unique Features
The Burj Al Arab has many unique features that make it stand out.
The Helipad
Near the very top of the hotel, there's a large helipad. This is a special landing area for helicopters. Sometimes, this helipad is used for amazing events. It has even been turned into a tennis court for famous athletes! Imagine playing tennis high above the city.
Inside the Hotel
Inside, the hotel is just as impressive. It has 56 floors and 202 luxury suites. Each suite is very spacious and offers incredible views of the Arabian Gulf. The hotel has many fancy restaurants, including ones that are very high up or even underwater.
Al Muntaha
One of the famous restaurants is called Al Muntaha. This name means "The Ultimate" or "The Top" in Arabic. It's located 200 meters (660 feet) above the Persian Gulf, offering amazing panoramic views of Dubai. You reach it by a special glass elevator.
Al Mahara
Another incredible restaurant is Al Mahara, which means "The Oyster Shell." This restaurant features a huge seawater aquarium. Diners can enjoy their meal while watching sharks, stingrays, and other colorful fish swim by. It feels like you're dining underwater!
