History of Burnett
Burnett was started by Stephen Grover Burnett and his wife, Hanna Creal Burnett, around 1835. By 1890, the community was growing. It had its own post office where people could send and receive mail. There was also a doctor, Dr. Seth B. Melton, who helped people stay healthy.
The post office in Burnett first opened in 1870. It served the community for many years. However, it closed down in 1934.
