Burro Island (in Spanish: Isla del Burro) is a large island in Venezuela. It is also known as Tacarigua Island. This island is located in the waters of Lake Valencia.
Burro Island covers about 247 hectares, which is like 247 football fields! It is the biggest of the 22 islands found in Lake Valencia. The island is part of the Guacara municipality in the central Venezuelan state of Carabobo.
Island History
Burro Island has a long history. For many years in the 20th century, there was a large historic building on the island. This building was used for a special purpose for a long time. It was eventually closed in the 1980s. Today, the island remains a notable part of the lake's landscape.
