Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids was a fun 30-minute Saturday morning cartoon series. It was made by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The show aired on NBC from September 8 to December 1, 1973. Its name sounds like the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but they are not related. In the cartoon, the characters have a music group called the Sun Dance Kids.

Meet the Crime-Fighting Band
This cartoon was a lot like other popular shows such as Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and Josie and the Pussycats. It followed the exciting adventures of a teenage pop music group.
The band members were:
- Butch Cassidy: He was the lead singer and played lead guitar. He was the heartthrob of the group.
- Merilee: A blonde beauty who played the tambourine.
- Stephanie: Often called Steffy, she was sensible and played the bass guitar.
- Wally: The curly-haired drummer of the band.
They also had a cool dog named Elvis. These kids lived double lives. By day, they were popular rock stars. By night, they were a secret team fighting crime for the government!
Their Secret Missions
The teens got their assignments from a supercomputer named Mr. Socrates. He had one big problem: he was allergic to dogs! So, whenever the group met Mr. Socrates in his secret lair, Elvis always had to stay outside.
But Elvis was a clever dog, or sometimes Wally would forget. Either way, Elvis would somehow get inside the lair. His presence would make Mr. Socrates sneeze and go a bit crazy! After that, Mr. Socrates would quickly send the group off on their mission. Butch, known as "Sundance 1," wore a special ring. This ring had a hidden communicator to talk to Mr. Socrates from far away.
