Life in America and "Butch and Maeve"
Butch Moore was one of Ireland's most popular showband singers, often compared to Brendan Bowyer of the Royal Showband. His first marriage to Norah Sheridan, with whom he had three children (Karen, Grainne, and Gary), ended in 1969. In 1970, Butch moved to the United States.
In 1972, Butch Moore married another Irish singer named Maeve Mulvany in the United States. They formed a very successful singing duo called "Butch and Maeve." They performed a mix of traditional Irish ballads and pop songs. They also owned a pub in Massachusetts named "The Parting Glass," after a song they often sang. Butch and Maeve had three children together: Rory, Tara, and Thomas.
Butch Moore passed away from a heart attack at his home in the United States on April 3, 2001, when he was 63 years old. Maeve Mulvany passed away a few years later on February 14, 2004.
