Butte is a small village in the state of Nebraska, United States. It is also the county seat of Boyd County. In 2020, about 286 people lived in Butte. This was a small decrease from 326 people in 2010.

History of Butte
Butte got its name from the small, isolated hills nearby. These hills are called "buttes." In the early 1990s, some land near Butte was bought for a special project. This project was to create a site for certain types of waste. However, after many discussions and legal challenges, the plan for the site was stopped. Nebraska was no longer part of the agreement by 2004. The land outside Butte is now available for sale.
Geography and Climate
Butte is located in the United States. It covers a total area of about 0.42 square miles (1.09 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

In 2010, the village of Butte had 326 people living there. These people lived in 144 households. A household is a group of people living together in one home. Also, 29.4% were 65 years or older.
Education in Butte
Students in Butte attend Boyd County Public Schools. This school district was formed in June 2017. Before that, students went to West Boyd Schools. That district was created in July 2007.
Famous People from Butte
Butte is the birthplace of some well-known individuals:
- George Wagner (born 1915) was a famous American professional wrestler. He was known by his stage name, Gorgeous George.
- Tim Walz graduated from Butte High School in 1982. He is a politician who served as the 41st Governor of Minnesota. In 2024, he became the Democratic nominee for Vice President of the United States.
