Butte Valley is a small community in Butte County, California, United States. It is an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own city government. It's also a "census-designated place" (CDP), meaning the U.S. Census Bureau counts its population.
Butte Valley is located about 5.5 miles (8.9 km) southeast of Chico. It sits at an elevation of 351 feet (107 meters) above sea level. A post office was open in Butte Valley from 1861 to 1871. It then moved to Durham.
