Byhalia is a small place in Ohio, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Byhalia is found in Washington Township, which is part of Union County. You can find it where two main roads meet: State Route 31 and State Route 739.

Byhalia's History

Byhalia has a history that goes back many years. One important part of its early days was the post office.

The Post Office

The Byhalia Post Office first opened its doors on February 16, 1852. This was a big deal for the community. It meant people could send and receive mail right there. Having a post office made Byhalia feel more connected.

Back in 1877, Byhalia was a small but active place. It had a general store where people could buy supplies. There was also a doctor, which was very important for the health of the community. A sawmill was also present, likely helping to process wood from nearby forests.

The Byhalia Post Office eventually closed on February 14, 1906. After it closed, mail service for Byhalia started coming from the nearby town of Richwood.
