Byrds Creek is a small, unincorporated community located in the town of Richwood, Wisconsin. It's found in Richland County, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's part of a larger town or county.
A Look Back: The History of Byrds Creek
Byrds Creek got its name from an important person named Adam Byrd. He was a pioneer who built the very first sawmill in this area. A sawmill is a place where logs are cut into lumber, which was very important for building homes and other structures back then.
The community also had a post office. It first opened in March 1890 and was called "Bird's Creek." Just two months later, in May 1890, the name was officially changed to "Byrd's Creek," matching Adam Byrd's name.
