Byron is a small place in Indiana that doesn't have its own local government. It's known as an unincorporated community. You can find it in LaPorte County, within Kankakee Township.
History
Byron was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1836. For a while, Byron was an important place for buying and selling goods in the region.
However, things changed when the Northern Indiana Railroad was built. This train line didn't go through Byron. Because of this, businesses moved to other towns. A nearby place called Rolling Prairie became more popular. This caused fewer people to live in Byron over time.
