Starting His Professional Career
César de la Hoz grew up in Orejo, a town in Cantabria, Spain. He learned to play football in the youth system of Racing de Santander. He started playing for their reserve team, Racing B, in the 2011–12 season. This was in a league called Tercera División.
On August 19, 2012, he played his first professional game. He started for Racing de Santander in a match against UD Las Palmas in the Segunda División.
Moving to Other Teams
On July 13, 2013, César de la Hoz joined Barakaldo CF, another team in Segunda División B. He played regularly there. Then, on July 10, 2014, he moved to Real Betis B, which was also in the same league.
Later, on August 30, 2017, he was loaned to Albacete Balompié for one year. This team played in the second division. He scored his first professional goals on October 15, scoring two goals in a game against Sevilla Atlético.
Playing for Almería
On July 4, 2018, César de la Hoz signed a two-year contract with UD Almería. They were also in the second division. He became a key player for the team and even one of the team captains. On October 6, 2021, he extended his contract until 2023.
Almería had a great season in 2021–22. They won the Segunda División championship and were promoted to La Liga, which is the top football league in Spain.
César de la Hoz played his first game in La Liga on August 27, 2022, when he was 30 years old. He came into the game during halftime in a match against Sevilla FC. He scored his first goal in La Liga on October 29, helping his team win against RC Celta de Vigo at their home stadium, the Power Horse Stadium.
On June 14, 2023, César de la Hoz and his teammate Francisco Portillo left Almería because their contracts ended.
Time at Valladolid
On July 21, 2023, César de la Hoz signed a two-year contract with Real Valladolid. This team had just been relegated to the second division. With his help, Valladolid returned to La Liga after just one season. However, he mostly played as a substitute during the first half of the 2024–25 La Liga season.
Moving to Oviedo
On January 16, 2025, César de la Hoz joined Real Oviedo with an 18-month contract. He helped the club get promoted to the top tier in the 2024–25 Segunda División season. On July 12, 2025, the club decided to let him leave by mutual agreement.
