Cacau Show is a super popular Brazilian company that makes delicious chocolates! It's based in a city called Itapevi, in São Paulo, Brazil. The company was started in 1988 by a very determined seventeen-year-old named Alexandre Tadeu da Costa. He began by selling chocolate Easter eggs right to people's doors, using special catalogs.

How Cacau Show Started
A Sweet Idea Takes Off
In 1988, Alexandre Costa had a big dream. He borrowed just US$500 from a family member. With this money, he bought ingredients and molds to make his very own chocolates. He started his small business in a neighborhood called Casa Verde, which is in the northern part of São Paulo.
Growing Bigger and Bigger
From that small start, Alexandre's business grew into a huge company. Today, Cacau Show has more than 3,700 stores all over Brazil! These stores get their chocolates from a giant factory located outside São Paulo. In 2022, all the stores together made a lot of money, over 4.1 billion Brazilian Reais. Not long after he started, Alexandre invited his high school friend, Sergio Butuem, to join him in the company.

Opening Stores and Becoming Famous
The very first Cacau Show store opened its doors in 2001. After that, the company grew super fast! By 2008, Cacau Show became the largest chocolate chain in the world. It had more stores than even the American company Rocky Mountain.
Awards and Future Plans
Cacau Show is now the third-largest franchise business in Brazil. It makes more than 50 million pounds of chocolate every year! In 2011, Alexandre Costa and Cacau Show won a special award called the Ernst&Young Entrepreneur of the Year prize in Brazil. They even represented Brazil in a worldwide competition in Monaco. Then, in 2013, Cacau Show won another big award in France, being named the Emerging Market Retailer of the Year.
The company keeps growing quickly by opening new stores in big cities and places where there weren't many chocolate shops before. Cacau Show is now in over 1,000 cities across Brazil. In the future, they plan to open stores in other countries too!
