Cagayan Valley is a special area in the Philippines. It is also known as Region II. You can find it in the northeastern part of Luzon Island. The main city and capital of this region is Tuguegarao City.

This region is mostly a big valley. It sits between two large mountain ranges. These are the Cordilleras and the Sierra Madre. The Cagayan River flows through this valley. It starts in the Caraballo Mountains and ends in the Luzon Strait. The region also includes the Babuyan Islands and Batanes Islands in the north.

Mountain Ranges

The region is surrounded by two major mountain ranges. The Cordilleras are to the west. The Sierra Madre mountains are to the east. These mountains help shape the valley.

The Cagayan River

The Cagayan River is the longest river in the Philippines. It flows all the way through the valley. The river starts in the Caraballo Mountains. It then travels north and empties into the Luzon Strait.

Islands of the Region

Cagayan Valley also includes several islands. The Babuyan Islands and Batanes Islands are part of this region. They are located north of the main land.
