Caitlin Bassett, born on May 23, 1988, is a famous former Australian netball player. She played for teams like Giants Netball and was a key member of the Australia national netball team, known as the Australian Diamonds. From 2017 to 2021, Caitlin even led the Australian team as captain in international games.

Caitlin Bassett's Netball Journey
Caitlin started her netball career playing in the West Australian Netball League for a team called Demons. She then joined West Coast Fever in 2005 and played with them until 2016.
In 2017, Caitlin moved to a new team, Sunshine Coast Lightning, which was part of the new Suncorp Super Netball league. She was a very important player for them. She helped her team win two championships in a row! In 2018, she was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Grand Final.
Playing for Different Teams
Before joining West Coast Fever, Caitlin played for the Perth Orioles from 2005 to 2007. After her success with Sunshine Coast Lightning, Caitlin joined Giants Netball in 2019. This was a big move for the club.
After two seasons with the Giants, Caitlin decided to move to New Zealand. She signed with Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic for the 2021 season.
Retirement and New Role
Caitlin Bassett officially retired from playing professional netball in February 2022. Soon after, she started a new role as a commentator for Fox Sports. This means she now talks about netball games on TV!
Playing for the Australian Diamonds
Caitlin Bassett is from Perth, Western Australia. She first played for the Australian national team, the Diamonds, in 2008.
World Championship Wins
In 2011, Caitlin was chosen for the Diamonds team that went to the World Netball Championships. She played a huge part in helping Australia win the gold medal. In the final game against New Zealand, she came on at half-time and helped her team win by just one point! She shot 90% accurately and scored the winning goal in extra time.
Caitlin continued to be a star player. In 2013, she played almost every minute as a goal shooter for the Diamonds. She helped them win a series against New Zealand.
Commonwealth Games Success
In 2014, Caitlin was part of the Australian Diamonds team that won a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She also represented Australia at the 2015 Netball World Cup.
Caitlin played for the Diamonds again at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was also part of the Australian Diamonds squad for the 2018–19 international season.
