Caitlin Bassett is a famous former Australian netball player. She was born on May 23, 1988. She played as a Goal Shooter (GS) for many top teams. Caitlin was also the captain of the Australian national netball team, known as the Australian Diamonds, from 2017 to 2021. She is known for her amazing shooting skills and for helping her teams win many important games.

Caitlin's Netball Journey
Caitlin Bassett started her netball career playing for the Demons in the West Australian Netball League. She then joined the Perth Orioles from 2005 to 2007. After that, she played for West Coast Fever for a long time, from 2005 to 2016.
Joining New Teams
In 2017, Caitlin moved to a new team called Sunshine Coast Lightning. This team was part of the new Suncorp Super Netball league. She was a very important player for them. She helped the Lightning win two championships in a row! In 2018, she was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Grand Final.
After her success with the Lightning, Caitlin joined Giants Netball in Sydney in 2019. She played there for two seasons. Later, she decided to move to New Zealand to play for Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in 2021.
Retirement and New Role
Caitlin Bassett officially retired from playing professional netball in February 2022. After she stopped playing, she became a commentator for Fox Sports. This means she now talks about netball games on TV.
Playing for Australia: The Diamonds
Caitlin Bassett made her first appearance for the Australian Diamonds in 2008. She became a key player for the national team.
World Championship Wins
In 2011, Caitlin was part of the Australian team that won the Netball World Championships. She played a very important role in the final game against New Zealand. She came into the game at half-time and helped her team win by just one point, 58-57. She shot with amazing accuracy, scoring 90% of her shots. She even scored the winning goal in extra time!
Caitlin continued to be a star for the Diamonds. She helped them win another gold medal at the 2015 Netball World Cup. She was also part of the team that won a silver medal at the 2019 Netball World Cup.
Commonwealth Games Success
Caitlin also represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games.
