Calamarca is a special place in Bolivia. Its name comes from the Aymara language, where Qala Marka means "place of stone." It is a municipality, which is like a local government area. Calamarca is located in the La Paz Department.
This area is part of the Altiplano, a high plateau in the Andes Mountains. The town of Calamarca is the main center of this municipality.
