The Story of Cale
Cale wasn't always in the exact spot it is today! The community first started about a mile north of its current location. It was called New Cale.
In the 1870s, a man named John Walsh built a railroad through the area. Many people decided to move closer to the new railway. This created a second settlement.
For a while, there were two places: "New Cale" (the original spot) and "Old Cale" (the new spot by the tracks). By the mid-1880s, more people had moved to the new location. By 1889, it was simply known as Cale.
A post office opened in Cale in 1884. It helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open until 1908. The name "Cale" probably came from a local school, which was called Kale School. The school itself was named after someone who lived in the area.
