The California State Legislature is a bicameral legislature that represents the state of California in the United States. It has a lower house, the California State Assembly, with 80 members, and an upper house, the California State Senate, with 40 members. Both houses meet at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. It is one of ten full-time state legislatures in the United States.
As of December 2020[update], the Democratic Party controls both houses.
